Dr Drago is not routinely taking New Patients as he is preparing to retire.
Professor Drago is a senior consultant neurologist, with academic appointments through the University of Melbourne as an Associate Professor at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, and the Department of Medicine, St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. His undergraduate Medical degree was undertaken at the University of Melbourne in 1981. He completed his PhD at the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (Department of Medical Biology, University of Melbourne) in 1991, and completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland USA. He has an international reputation in stem cell biology and transgenic models of neurodegenerative diseases and has over 30 years of clinical experience in Parkinsonian syndromes and cognitive disorders. He currently consults in the Movement Disorders Clinic and the Cognitive Clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital and Warrigal House.
Professor Drago has over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including in highly prestigious journals such as Nature, Nature Genetics, PNAS, Neuron, Journal of Neuroscience, Neuropsychopharmacology, Brain, and JNNP. He has delivered invited presentations at Queen Square, the National Institute of Child Health & Human Development, and Trinity College Dublin. He has supervised to completion 7 PhD students, and regularly reviews for the NHMRC, ARC, and National Science Foundation (USA). He has more than 12,000 scientific citations.
His research has been acknowledged by multiple fellowships and awards, including from the NHMRC (Medical Postgraduate Training Award, 1987; Neil Hamilton Fairley, 1991-94; Practitioner Fellow, 2003-09), RACP (Basser Fellowship, 1991-96; Wellcome Australia Fellowship, 1995); Bethlehem Griffiths Research Foundation (1995); and Monash University (Logan Research Fellowship, 1997-2002). He has received competitive funding from the NHMRC (Project, Network, Program Grants), the NIH (Inventors Award for a GDNF knockout mouse), CASS Foundation, and the Smorgon Families Foundation.
He sees his role now as mentoring Neurologists and providing second opinions in difficult clinical cases in General Neurology, movements disorders and the field of dementia. He will see patients seen previously for ongoing clinical assessments. Availability of appointments for review patients and new patients are limited because of restricted working hours but is always happy to talk to referring doctors regarding diagnostically difficult cases and is prepared to accommodate peer requested cases in urgent slots.

Steve Macfarlane is an Associate Professor of Aged Psychiatry, with academic links through Monash University.
He has worked at Warrigal House since 2003, and has held Director of Aged Psychiatry posts at both Peninsula Health and Alfred Health.
Since 2016 he has worked as Head of Clinical Services for Dementia Support Australia.
He has clinical interest in frontal lobe disorders, dementia and clinical trials, and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed academic publications.

Dr. Ma is a passionate neurologist trained and qualified in Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sydney with over 20 years of clinical experience. Her special interests include stroke, Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, headache, functional neurological disorder and general neurology.

Dr. Tony Sutherland is a cognitive and general neurologist with a special interest in dementia, memory disorders, headaches, and general neurology.
He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications through his work with the Eastern Cognitive Neurology Clinic and is actively engaged in research with the Australian Defense Force, focusing on mild traumatic brain injury.
Dr. Sutherland combines his clinical expertise with a commitment to advancing neurological research and patient care.
Bookings Available: The 1st, 3rd, and if there’s a 5th Tuesday of the month, 9am - 4pm, and Wednesdays, 9am - 4pm.

Dr Victor Gordon
Nerve conduction studies/ EMG appointments ONLY

Dr Gordon attends our clinic twice a month only to conduct Nerve conduction studies/ EMG tests.
Dr Victor Gordon is our electrophysiologist (nerve conduction studies, muscle examination).
He does his best to make the test less uncomfortable, while maintaining the technical standards to which he was trained.
Dr Gordon trained at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, USA, where they take his line of work very seriously.
The diagnosis of muscle and nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, pinched nerves in the back, and the weird muscle and nerve disorders is what he lives for.
Bookings Available: 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month, 9am - 4pm.
